Jar candles
Jar candles are a fun craft project. Locate empty baby food jars (from
a new mother perhaps). Alternatively, empty glass jelly jars or condiment
jars will also work. Melt the wax according to specifications for the
wax you purchased. Set the wick in the jar and pour the wax while holding
the wick in place. Allow to cool until solid before lighting or wrapping
for a gift.
Canning jar candles are simple to make, are great gifts, and are limited
only by the imagination. To start, all one needs are some old wide mouth
canning jars, wire ribbon, votive candles, potpourri, small votive candle
holders, and a hot glue gun. Fill the jar with the potpourri. One can
also use dried fruits as a filler. Set the candle holder inside the
mouth of the jar. Make sure the top of the candle holder is even with
the top of the jar. Put the candle in the holder and then tie a big
bow made of ribbon around the neck of the jar using the glue gun to
hold it in place.
When one lights a scented jar candle have you ever noticed how your
mood changes? Do you wonder why? Maybe the scent reminds you of pleasant
memories from your childhood and that memory brings emotions. However,
it’s possible it’s the scent that’s making the change.
Once people start to use aromatherapy, they want to have a number of
scented candles available. The good thing about jar candles is that
when not in use, they can be closed with a lid to keep the scents inside.
